Sunday Funday or Easter Sunday?

Easter Sunday, Pandemic Style, turns into Sunday Funday...

This is my families first "normal" Easter in four years.

Three years ago, 2018, Easter Sunday was tough. My grandmother, dads mom, passed away. She was diagnosed with stage four cancer a month prior, and it was just getting worse. We knew her time was near, but Easter Sunday approached and the family as a whole went to the hospital said happy Easter talked to her for a little while (even though she was unresponsive) and when we left my dad got the call.  We made it back to my other grandmothers house and right when we were sitting down for dinner, that's when my dad got the call and went on his way to the hospital with his other siblings. As sad as we were, she went out on a holiday that she loved after feeling the warmth of her family around her that morning.

Two years ago, 2019, Easter Sunday my sister fell down the stairs and sprained her ankle. This Easter was also a little different because my cousin Devon was in Spain. Therefore, we only had the four cousins rather than five. My family is extremely close-knit where we are all one year apart (except my sister Abby and Cousin David- they are the same age.) Emma, my younger sister sprained her ankle and it was a mess.   This, of course, put a stump in Easter Sunday.

Cousins.

Now, of course, the worst Easter yet, 2020. Corona Virus. Last years Easter was for sure one to remember, but definitely not normal. This was the first Easter (or holiday for that matter) that we did not spend with our whole family. Yeah, I still spent it with my family of five (sisters and parents) but it was just not the same. We decided to still get in a cute outfit and take pictures outside...because why not? This was an Easter no one will forget.

Now...back to some normalcy in 2021. Not much, but better than these past years. We are still living in a pandemic, but we were able to be with the whole family once again. How special. All of the adults in my family have been vaccinated alongside my sister Abby and Cousin David. Therefore Devon, Emma and I were the only three not vaccinated yet. This Easter finally felt normal again. We all feasted on an abundance of different foods, we laughed, we shared stories and it was overall a blessed day.
